Pretty ironic how in one’s career field, credibility and advancement depend upon her or his knowledge and experience in a particular vocation. In motherhood, children have been known to construe those qualifications as a detriment instead of an asset. At work, I regularly convince individuals who are far more gifted and better-educated than me to trust me and appreciate my expertise. It only takes 5 minutes of driving the soccer carpool, however, to be apprised by my children that I am indigenous to Generation X and consequently inconsequential in my dated mommy wisdom!
Sill, a little praise was whispered the other afternoon when my sticky note left on the fridge steered the kids to the freezer for their afternoon snack. Who knew that making frozen yogurt kisses would earn me such snack-time flattery? I broke up the routine by taking 1 single-serving vanilla Greek yogurt, mixing it with 2 tsp Activz Strawberry Powder and, piping the mixture out of a sandwich baggie, created 8 little yogurt drops that I froze for 20 minutes on a parchment-lined cookie sheet before putting them in a small, freezer Ziploc.
